A week in the life of a Mormon missionary!

Where does the time go? If only I knew the answer!

This week started off pretty slow in terms of the work. We contacted this old lady who doesn't come to church anymore and the first thing she said through the screen door was, "You need to call and set up an appointment!" So what did I do? I pulled out our phone right there and dialed her number and said, "Hi, it's the missionaries. We would like to set up an appointment." She told us to call back next week haha! I would rather people be honest with us instead of beating around the bush. If you don't want to see us again, kindly (but directly) let us know :)

It rained for 36 hours straight Monday-Tuesday. I couldn't live anywhere where it rained that much. I was getting all sad because I missed the sun.

I gave a training in district meeting on Wednesday about the importance of Church, specifically the sacrament. To start, I asked the question, "What was the last thing you did with your friends and family before you came out of your mission?" Some of the replies included: partied, amusement park, traveled, and played games. Compare that to what Jesus did in His final hours with his best friends and family; He instituted the sacrament! If it was that important to Jesus and His friends, how important should it be each Sunday for us to partake of it as well?

My most favorite investigator I have had on the mission so far is by far Brother Fugelvand. He has been taking missionaries for 37 years so we can be as blunt and as honest with each other as possible. His hold up is he believes Joseph Smith wrote the Book of Mormon and started this Church. BUT (and this is a BIG BUT) he wants that testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet before he joins our Church. He said he believes our doctrine more than his own faith's doctrine (Catholic. For example he doesn't believe in infant baptism, original sin, or the pomp and circumstance) and he believes our church does the MOST good out of all the churches and he feels the spirit whenever he comes to church and has us over. He is so so close to the truth.  I love him and his wife!

My friends, family, and friends I just don't know yet, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church Christ established when He walked the Earth. He didn't come to Earth just to perform the Atonement (His suffering for our sins, afflictions, and pains in Gethsemane and on the cross + His Resurrection) then leave us with no definite way of accessing it. He established His Church with all the Laws and Ordinances necessary to completely access His Atonement. The Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is faith unto repentance then witnessing your repentance before God by entering into the waters of baptism and then receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, is what we need to completely access Christ's Atonement. The fullness of Jesus Christ's Gospel is found ONLY in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know this to be true and it's AMAZING!!!

Love you all,

Elder Sell
